TRN Medusa Review – Clear Sound
Medusa, also known as the “floating flowers” of the ocean, is admired for its see-through bodies and elegant movements, representing the calmness of the ocean. These graceful creatures move harmoniously with the sea, connecting us to nature. TRN Medusa takes you on a sonic journey into the depths of the ocean. Drawing inspiration from Medusa’s captivating surface designs, the clear casing of TRN Medusa showcases its distinct textures.
The TRN Medusa has an innovative three-chamber dual magnetic circuit dynamic unit. This special design divides the sound frequency spectrum into three chambers, allowing for a wide frequency response. This means that the TRN Medusa accurately reproduces high-frequency details and deep bass, providing an exciting and immersive listening experience. Also, the three-chamber structure improves sound localization and expands the dynamic range.
TRN has improved the Seashell first-generation DLC dynamic unit by refining its structure and materials to reduce vibration distortion. This results in clearer audio reproduction with more precise details and higher sound quality. The TRN Medusa features a second-generation 12mm DLC dynamic unit with improved response speed.
TRN has carefully fine-tuned the acoustic chamber design to achieve top-notch sound quality. The specialized internal structure was created through extensive testing and adjustments, resulting in precise control over unwanted reflections.
The TRN Medusa uses a precise three-way crossover design to create a balanced sound with accurate frequency distribution for low, mid, and high tones.
The TRN Medusa includes a four-strand copper-silver mixed interchangeable connector cable, combining oxygen-free copper and silver plating for better sound quality. The 89-core Litz wire construction in each signal path ensures high-quality signal transmission for detailed and clear sound reproduction.

I would like to thank Shenzhenaudio for providing me with the review sample of the TRN Medusa.
Sound
The TRN Medusa features a warm-neutral signature, focusing on the sub-bass area. It offers a coherent and tonally balanced sound throughout the frequency range. Similar to other TRN IEMs I’ve reviewed, the Medusa boasts a strong technical base.
The TRN Medusa excels in producing strong bass and balanced sound, making it a top choice for under $50. It’s a versatile IEM that delivers great performance.
Lows
The IEMs maintain a robust sub-bass to mid-bass range, with a gradual decrease in emphasis towards the mid-bass. Thanks to the new 12mm dynamic driver, the bass remains well-controlled and does not overshadow the midrange. The DD driver effectively manages bass reproduction, resulting in a crisp, distortion-free, and responsive bass output.
The TRN Medusa offers top-notch bass quality for its price. It’s speedy, crisp, and robust. You can play natural percussion or synthetic bass lines without any concerns. Great work.
Mids
The midrange of the TRN Medusa is balanced, spacious, and accurate, with a natural timbre. The midbass provides good weight, the male vocals sound realistic, and the instrument texture feels accurate. The upper midrange is neither too forward nor recessed, giving a clean and airy sound that stays well below any harshness.
The TRN Medusa handles splashy and shouty instruments with ease, thanks to its polite but detailed upper midrange tuning. That being said, the Medusa does feel airy and also feels organic.
Highs
The TRN Medusa has a well-balanced and polite treble. It offers a nice amount of high-frequency extension and detail. The tuning is just right, with the perfect level of treble density. The highs are resolved quite well. Overall, this tuning will please both treble enthusiasts and audiophiles who are sensitive to treble, making this region stand out.
Technicalities
The TRN Medusa is an amazing piece of technology for its price. It has excellent resolution and a perfect tonal balance. The Medusa boasts excellent imaging, precise instrument separation, and a wide stage with ample depth. The separation it offers is among the best in its price range, and I can confidently say that it has exceeded my expectations.
Sum-Up
In summary, the Medusa In-Ear Monitors show TRN’s dedication to providing top-notch sound quality at an affordable cost. Its unique warm-neutral sound and impressive technical abilities make it stand out from other options in the same price range.
For those seeking a harmonious blend of detail and warmth in the sub $50 range, the TRN Medusa is undoubtedly a hidden gem that needs to be discovered.
