Moondrop UltraSonic TWS Review – LDAC & LC3
In the pursuit of high-resolution sound performance, Moondrop has developed this all-new high-end dual-driver hybrid set of TWS earphones, the Moondrop Ultrasonic. The pair features a traditional combination of BA and DD units housing an FRA Lithium-Magnesium Alloy BA driver and a 13mm Sapphire diaphragm Dynamic Driver on each side.
To ensure top-level performance, the pair also supports LDAC high-definition audio signal transmission protocol. Moondrop has tuned the set following their own VDSF target response curve promising a natural and lively sound experience for the users.
Moondrop Ultrasonic features a dual-driver hybrid setup that ensures excellent performance. It houses an FRA Balanced Armature driver as a tweeter and a full-frequency 13mm sapphire diaphragm dynamic driver.
The FRA balanced armature driver uses the direct radiation from the diaphragm to handle the high-frequency waves, it produces a clean and wide ultra-high frequency band response.
It features a lithium-magnesium alloy diaphragm. This BA unit is supported by a 13mm full-frequency band sapphire-coated dome composite diaphragm dynamic driver unit. It produces a rich and dynamic lower-end with a clear midrange. The drivers are arranged in a two-way crossover for enchanting sound reproduction.
Moondrop Ultrasonic supports high-resolution LDAC lossless transmission protocol. It enables smooth streaming of 24-bit/96kHz signals. Most modern smartphones also support LDAC Bluetooth protocols, so you can enjoy high-resolution audio performance with LDAC mode.
The Moondrop Ultrasonic also has LC3 low-delay high-definition audio protocol. When paired with devices that are also compatible with standard LC3, the Ultrasonic gets ultra-low delay in performance.
Moondrop Ultrasonic has dual operating modes, Game Mode and Music Mode. The game mode can be enabled by tapping on the faceplate for four times. In game mode, the signal transmission delay is as low as 55ms, this mode is also good for watching videos and movies.
Moondrop Ultrasonic features single-feedforward ANC technology with lossless sound technology. Using a brand-new flagship SOC chipset and superior acoustic design, the Moondrop Ultrasonic achieves an excellent noise-canceling effect and ensures lossless high-resolution sound quality for the listeners.
The Ultrasonic also has improved transparency mode which is fine-tuned to focus more on surrounding details and reproduction of the human voice.
The Moondrop Ultrasonic houses an efficient Bluetooth processor and a high-capacity battery. The earpieces have a battery life of up to 6 hours and the charging case provides an additional 18 hours of battery backup.

Moondrop Link App
Moondrop Ultrasonic TWS earphones have five different tuning profiles. The earphones have complete integration with the Moondrop Link application. It allows the users to switch between these tunings easily. The tuning options available for the Moondrop Ultrasonic are, Monitor, Reference, Club (Default), 89XX, and 336xx.
Sound
This TWS is tuned with a slight bass boost and amazing treble extension. Is quick and super-detailed. The sound is analytical, every single minute detail shines and has an excellent place in a song, textures, and micro textures are very well expressed and feel enhanced.
The UltraSonic is a great performer for vocal-driven music, Jazz, and other types of music where you’d want a less intrusive bass, along with a leaner and extended treble.
The most impressive here is the level of clarity and detail. You get to hear every single detail, every single texture, and every micro-texture, all the things that are normally smooth are now expressed and distinguishable.
Lows
The UltraSonic has a powerful and elastic bass response. There’s a good amount of rumble, and the bass is not focused on delivering only the tip of the bass, or only the mid-bass, but rather a full and pleasing presentation. The overall bass note decay is natural.
The bass of UltraSonic is quite linear, quite detailed, and quite impressive. With UltraSonic, you notice the finer details that it can render in the bass of your favorite songs and the way it conveys certain nuances that otherwise can get subdued. You get a new sensation of speed as well, as UltraSonic has one of the quickest sounds around, you feel every little reverberation in the sound.
Mids
The midrange performance of the UltraSonic is accurate and realistic, particularly when it comes to vocals. The sound is fuller and carries a slight warmth, enhancing the details and providing a lifelike tone. Detail retrieval, clarity, and overall resolution are amazing. The overall signature feels quite spacious, as well as the stage and the space between the instruments.
The mids are intimate. It is really clean, natural, and smoothly textured. The UltraSonic has a natural tone. Vocals and instruments feel just right, with good timbre and body. They are tuned closely to my ideal sound signature. Nothing to complain about here.
Treble
The UltraSonic has excellent extension in the treble range. The treble is not harsh or fatiguing, creating accurate sound reproduction for various instruments.
The detail level in the treble is very good, and its speed is as quick as the bass and the midrange, and the quantity of the treble is exactly what we’d go for if you’re a metal or rock listener. If you prefer your treble smooth and lean, with a presence, then UltraSonic should bring you lots of fun and a pretty good experience.
The treble range follows the bass line, they are a little more pronounced compared to the midrange. The single BA driver does a good job of reproducing detailed, articulate, and clean treble. The resolution and detail level are certainly impressive and the texture is quite amazing.
Technicalities
The Soundstage of UltraSonic is not the largest one, nor the widest one, but instead, the instrument separation is what they rely on to be impressive. The soundstage is average in both width and depth, and given the detail they achieve, one’s focus will probably be set more on each bit of detail, rather than focused on the scene as a whole.
UltraSonic is so great at being analytical, and the instrument separation helps with that since one can easily tell details and textures apart, one is also able to tell instruments apart, the whole image painted by UltraSonic being clear, well separated, clearly positioned, and detailed.
The detail and textures of UltraSonic are not to be taken lightly, especially if you’re one to appreciate a truly clean and analytical sound, with extremely good detail and revealing ability, along with a very interesting sonic performance and overall price/performance ratio.
Sum-Up
The pairing and the automatic connection work perfectly, it’s very fast and without any problem. Digital ANC also works well for light use, I mean you can’t expect the black background silence levels like in the big boys’ Apple or Sony but gets the job done as a spec.
Having an App for different sound presets and the ability to change the touch controls is always a bonus in this price range. But most importantly, the sound quality of the UltraSonic will certainly please you by having the audiophile-grade signature for just $74.99.
